Simple Dhamma

  • What is Dhamma?
  • Why am I so much fond of it? ....
There are 6 perfect reasons worth about the Dhamma.
  1. It's perfectly explained by the Buddha ( Here you may take the Buddha as a professor specialised in the study of the minds and matters existed insights of human beings)
  2. It can be taught, learnt, understood and practiced by any layperson regardless of age, sex or race.
  3. One can be enlightened from Dhamma at any time or any occasion with a cause of reasonable mindfulness or practice.
  4. Dhamma invites and attracts to see and feel more and more when one is seeking deeply into it.
  5. Everyone should keep Dhamma visions and wisdoms in minds in their day to day living.
  6. Dhamma roots out our impurities of minds and bodily cravings, and it brings absolute peacefulness.
  • Dhamma ... how can I know more about Dhamma?
Dhamma can be simple if you think or follow it simply.
Dhamma can be very deeply understandable if you think or follow it deeply.

Dhamma is not created but it is all existances in the law of nature.
We follow Buddha who discovered Dhamma from the law of nature. Buddha is not a creater.
Scope of the Dhamma actually is very wide.
There are about 84,000 Dhamma explainations or Dhamma matters to learn.
Buddhists keep it all in 3 Pitakats.

  • Esaiest and simplest way to stay with Dhamma is -
To be mindful yourself at all times.
You don't need to think, create or imagine what you don't know or understand about.
As simple as that!

To be mindful yourself is just to . . .
  • know what you'r physical body inside and outside is happening ...
  • know when you're talking ...
  • know when you're thinking ...
  • right at the time of present continuously.

In the other way . . .
  • think, know, be mindful
  • see, know, be mindful
  • hear, know, be mindful
  • smell, know, be mindful
  • taste, know, be mindful
  • touch, know, be mindful (hti, thi, tha-ti)
(by SunLun Sayardaw)

  • You may ask, What are the benefit doing so?
You will know what you're doing is correct or not, should or not.
Other people would not be troublesome due to your misdeeds.
People become to like you and love you as you are are not troublesome
and helpful in your society.

Dhamma has the nature of being contented. It is likely to be detached.
And, it is aginst the selfishness.

Usually, Dhamma lovers or devotees always become the victims of selfish people and rulers in the histories.
But they have inner peace for the rest of their lives and gain afterlife
benefits or in the correct direction to the footpath to the Nirvirna.

Nivirna can also be explained easily.
To get to the Nivirna you give up everything.
You will reach to the Nivirna when you don't even want the Nivirna!

My wish lists, when I'm dying ...

Dear All,

Normally, we don't know exactly when, where or how we would die.

I am trying my best to prepare my own death without causing troubles to the people around me by practicing vipassana meditation. If I can not avoid hospitalization, below is my final wish lists to the doctors, nurses and caretakers.

When I'm dying, if I'm not be able to be fed .....
Do not pour foods into my stomach through tube or inject medicines thro' my veins.
Let the body system go in natural process.
Do remember that our body has limited time and capabilities (sankhara bavana).

When I'm dying, if I'm breathing difficultly .....
Please do not put artificial respirator on the mouth.
Let me stay on my own natural breath.
You may observe my breath and note your own breath (arnarpana nusatti).

When I'm dying, if I'm suffering severe pains .....
Do not give me pain relievers, injections or medicines that would make me get unconsciousness.
Let me stay on noting on the pains (vedanar nusatti).
Be reminded to note that you may face the similar sufferings.

When I'm dying, if I'm in concious mind ......
Let me hear "Maha Sati Pahtana Sutta - by Bamaw Sayardaw Phayargyi".

When I'm dying, if I'm wondering and lost conscious .....
Do share metta and/or dhammar nusati bervanna arround me, and stay quitely.

When I'm dying, do see me in the process of facing the death soberly .....
It's not time to cry while watching, but to see how you should face death or "Marana" when the time comes to you.

It won't be necessary to do traditional ritual after death since my body (and mind) has always been maintained under the Three Jewels: Buddha, Dhamma and Shangha by myself.

My bodies (organs) have already been donated to SGH after death.
So, be equanimity to it .....

It is up to SGH, but request to examine how the body is different from others. It should be benefited to the mankind.

You may do offering to the monks as we do traditionally (in Burmese style) for your sake.

I do not want to cause anyone's troubles or concerns over the death.
Do forgive me if I had ever caused anyone of you insulted, troubled or abused physically, metally or verbally.

This is the way, I think, a good buddhist should face death.

May you all attain meg, phol, niban ...

Note:
  • This is not a suicidal note.
  • Dying this way is not my expectation. But, I will encourage to the people I care to accept this way. And I will be guiding the patient to whom I attend in this way.
  • Ending the life at home before Buddha's Image peacefully is prefered.
  • I do not like hospitalization and the way most hospitals are caring over the dying patients today.
  • This note was written in the memories of my mom who passaway on 2nd Sept, 2010.
